homo ridiculus. Chrysostomus ad Ephes. Hom. 18. Οὐχ ὁρᾷς τοὺς λεγομένους γελωτοποιοὺς, σαμαρδάκους; οὗτοι εἰσὶν ἐυτράπελοι. Vide Martinium in Etymolog. Sic in Actis Quirini Mart. num. 5. Video enim te sicut rusticanum, quasi a samatdaco inductum, qui et te et se decepit: ubi, vox haec, inquit vir eruditus, Afris impostor est, morio, planus. Augustiin contra Academicos l. 3. c. 15. Illeautem casu planus crat, de iis, quas Samardacos iam vulgus vocat. Eorundem meminit Chrysostomus Homil. ad Ephesios 18. apud Car. du Fresne in Glossar.
